FPL to build more solar plants, one new gas plant

More solar power plants are on the way, and an older power plant in Dania Beach will be replaced with a new natural gas-fired facility, Florida Power & Light officials said Monday.

In addition to the approximately 600 megawatts of solar power Juno Beach-based FPL is building at eight sites around the state, the company said it wants to add another 1,500 megawatts beginning in 2019 through 2023. It already operates more than 335 megawatts of solar generating capacity.
